Mission Kids Holds Annual Event To Benefit Montgomery County Kids

-Local Organization Hosts Mission Possible Fundraiser To Combat Abuse-

Norristown, PA, March 29, 2010— Mission Kids, a local non-profit organization aimed at easing the criminal justice process for abused children, is holding their annual “Mission Possible” fundraising effort in the fight against child abuse. The benefit will be held April 8th at the Merion Tribute House from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., where attendee’s can help raise money to support abused and at-risk children in Montgomery County.

The Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center, which officially opened its services in the fall of 2009, provides a child-friendly interviewing setting to young victims of abuse. The facility simplifies the interviewing process so that these children avoid multiple interviews in a police station or courtroom, a setting that can be intimidating to a young child. The first of its kind in Montgomery County, the Child Advocacy Center has already completed over 100 interviews since it’s opening.

“Without the generous support of the community, Mission Kids would not be as successful today,” said Abbie Newman, Executive Director of Mission Kids.  “We have come a long way, and this year’s event will be a celebration of goals we have reached these past few months because of their help. We hope not only to continue to raise awareness of the importance of Mission Kids, but to work towards the prevention of child abuse both in our community and nationwide.”

Both institutions as well as individuals have seen the need for the organization and have shown their support. Since it is a local organization, the community shares a sense of familiarity with those that are being helped because of their contributions.

Those interested in attending the “Mission Possible” benefit, or those who would like to make a donation to Mission Kids may contact Executive Director, Abbie Newman, at

484-687-2990 or visit www.missionkidscac.org. All proceeds of the Mission Possible event will benefit Mission Kids.
