April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Every year, Mission Kids joins other organizations across the country to recognize the importance of our children, the future they represent, and the things that we can do every day to make sure they have the great childhood they deserve today.

Wear Blue

We encourage all community members to WEAR BLUE – to work, to school, to a community event – to show support for preventing child abuse.
On Monday, April 1st, individuals and organizations across Montgomery County will stand together to make a visible commitment to prevent child abuse.
Please send photos to Clare Henderson: chenderson@missionkidscac.org and be sure to tag us on Social Media (@missionkidscac)! Use the hashtag: #wearblue4MK

Get Informed

In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, we are encouraging all community members to commit to learning more about child abuse and making a difference by learning more.

We encourage you to schedule a “Darkness to Light” Child Abuse Education & Prevention Training that provides adults with simple and practical actions they can take to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child abuse. Through this program, we help facilitate discussions among adults who live, work, or spend time with children. We know that when adults are trained, they take the steps to protect children from abuse.

To schedule your FREE training, please contact Michelle McDyre:

mmcdyre@missionkidscac.org or 484-687-2990 ext. 1016

Get Creative

Encourage children to celebrate by coloring a pinwheel, or even creating their very own pinwheel (Coloring template and instructions included below!) This is the perfect opportunity to talk to kids about safe boundaries and child abuse. For resources, click here.

Fundraise for Prevention

Many businesses and community organizations like to get involved as a group or team. This is a great opportunity to Fundraise for Prevention!

Sponsor a “Pajamas for Prevention” Day at school or a dress-down day at work in exchange for donations to Mission Kids.

Other Prevention Fundraising ideas include: ‘Pizzas for Prevention,’ ‘Paramedics for Prevention,’ ‘Principals, Police, Parents, and Pennsylvanians for Prevention’ – you get the idea. Get creative, invite competition, and have fun!

For more information about third-party fundraisers, please contact Michelle McDyre:

mmcdyre@missionkidscac.org or 484-687-2990 ext. 1016.

Mission Kids will highlight the activities of our community supporters all month, so please share photos of you and let us know how you are commemorating National Child Abuse Prevention Month!

Thank you for joining us as a Partner in Prevention!
