Position Summary:

The Front Desk Receptionist serves as first point of contact for children, caregivers, and community members entering Mission Kids. This role is critical in creating a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed environment for children and families navigating allegations of abuse. The Receptionist is expected to coordinate visitor flow, supervision of the waiting room, maintain confidentiality, maintain accuracy of service calendars (FI, MH, Medical), and support the overall functioning of Mission Kids with professionalism, compassion, and discretion.

Mission Kids coordinates a child-focused, multidisciplinary response to allegations of child abuse. Our team includes local law enforcement, child protective services, county detectives, and prosecutors to ensure a coordinated, trauma-informed response to each case.

 

Essential Duties & Tasks:

Client and Visitor Support

  • Greet and support families upon arrival, answering questions and removing barriers to participation in interviews, therapy, medical appointments (e.g., directions, comfort items).
  • Supervise children in the waiting area, including those with special needs or behavioral considerations, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Create a calm, child-friendly, and trauma-informed atmosphere in the reception area.
  • Notify appropriate staff of client arrival and manage waiting areas.
  • Provide clear directions and information while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Maintain the welcoming, warm atmosphere of the waiting room by ensuring that snacks, toys, books, refreshment are filled and maintained.
  • Assist families with check-in procedures for forensic interviews, therapy, and/or medical appointments.
  • Prepare and organize paperwork for client visits.

 

Front Desk Administrative Responsibilities

  • Answer and route incoming calls promptly and professionally while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is provided to clients upon arrival
  • Maintain appointment calendars and coordinate appropriately with mental health, MK direct service, and CHOP to ensure calendar accuracy.

 

Other Duties

  • Perform additional duties as required to support the mission and daily operations of the agency.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based, trauma-informed setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn agency software systems.

 

Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in human services, criminal justice, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in childcare, child development, case coordination, or human services strongly preferred.
  • General knowledge of the criminal justice and child welfare systems is a plus.
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • PA Child Abuse Clearances Required
  • Must successfully pass FBI fingerprinting, Pennsylvania State Police, and ChildLine background clearances.
  • Bilingual Preferred

 

Working Conditions and Schedule:
