Marketing and Communications Internship

Position Details

The Marketing and Communications Intern will assist in supporting the organization’s mission by contributing to marketing, public relations, and outreach initiatives. This internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in content creation, digital marketing, event promotion, and brand management while working alongside a dedicated team advocating for children and families. It’s an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to build real-world marketing and communications experience while making a meaningful impact on children and families.

Position Schedule and Location:

  • Hybrid position with a combination of remote and on-site work at Mission Kids’ main location in East Norriton, PA.
  • Must be available at least 4 hours per day, a minimum of 3 days per week. Additional hours are welcome.
  • Evening and weekend availability is a plus to support event and outreach initiatives

Essential Duties & Tasks

  • Assisting with social media content creation and scheduling
  • Help monitor social media engagement and compile performance reports
  • Supporting email marketing campaigns through content creation, formatting, and analytics tracking
  • Helping to draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, and blog content
  • Assisting with photography and video content at special events and outreach programs
  • Providing logistical support for Mission Kids’ fundraising and awareness events
  • Monitoring media coverage and compiling press clips
  • Researching and developing new marketing strategies to increase community engagement
  • Representing Mission Kids at community outreach events and networking opportunities
  • Assist with additional projects tailored to field of interest (i.e. public relations, digital marketing, graphic design)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube)
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms (i.e. Constant Contact, MailChimp)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (preferred, but not required)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and organization
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for marketing, branding and storytelling
  • Interest in nonprofit marketing, fundraising and community engagement
  • Comfortability discussing sensitive topics related to child advocacy in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work environment
  • Successful completion of background checks, including child abuse history, criminal history, and FBI clearances

Education

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree program (i.e. marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field)
