Hi there! I’m Lightning, a golden retriever-labrador mix, and I’m the therapy dog here at Mission Kids. I was born in June 2022, and after lots of special training, I’m ready to help kids and families feel safe, calm, and happy during their time at Mission Kids.
My favorite job is greeting kids when they finish their forensic interviews—just like a firefly (or as we call them in Pennsylvania, a lightning bug!) lighting up the dark. I love wagging my tail and giving snuggles to help you feel a little more at ease. You can find me in the waiting area, ready to bring comfort and brighten your day.
I also hang out during therapy sessions, especially when kids need extra support during tough conversations. I’m really good at sitting quietly and offering a comforting paw or nuzzle when you need it most.
And guess what? I’m here for the awesome Mission Kids staff, too! When their days get tough, I help them take a break, smile, and recharge their energy.
