Mission Kids is seeking a Full-time Financial Manager to join our team of professionals.

 

The Financial Manager is responsible for coordinating all aspects of financial management of the non-profit agency.   

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and 5+ years of experience. Master’s Degree Preferred.

Candidates should be PC proficient including advanced knowledge of Word for Windows and Excel, PowerPoint, Raiser’s Edge and Quickbooks data base functions.

Summary of Position:

  • The Financial Manager is responsible for coordinating all aspects of financial management of the non-profit agency.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepares and maintains general ledger transactions including revenue recognition, cash receipts, customer invoices, vendor payments, bank and investment reconciliations, account reconciliations, payroll, fixed asset management, etc. in an accurate and timely fashion in accordance with GAAP accounting standards and internal control policies and procedures
  • Responsible for all aspects of payroll and related accounting
  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.  Report financial position compared to budget to Board of Directors
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls
  • Prepares payments by verifying documentation
  • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
  • Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Assists in budget creation and fiscal reporting of Grants
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks
  • Assists outside auditors with the annual audit
  • Facilitates the annual worker’s compensation audit; prepares and files annual 1099s and 1096
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • PC proficient including advanced knowledge of Word for Windows and Excel, PowerPoint, Raiser’s Edge and Quickbooks data base functions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; presentation experience helpful
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have or be able to pass PA State Police, PA Childline and Federal fingerprint screenings

 

Education, and Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and five years’ experience; Master’s degree a plus
  • Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of a growing not for profit service organization
  • Self-development, workshops and other experiences to demonstrate drive for continuing education

Mission Kids is seeking a Part-time OR Full-time Forensic Interviewer to join our team of professionals.

 

Using a child-friendly method, forensic interviewers conduct neutral, fact-finding interviews of children who have potentially been victimized or witnessed a crime.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of experience in a field that would prepare them to work with children who have experienced trauma.

Bi-lingual Strongly Preferred. Master’s Degree Preferred.

Summary of Position:

  • The Forensic Interviewer is responsible for conducting non-leading, child friendly, developmentally appropriate interviews of children affected by sexual and physical abuse for Mission Kids. The Forensic Interview is also responsible for the facilitation and promotion of a team investigation approach of child abuse cases.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Interviewing children, as well as adults with disabilities, who have potentially been victimized or witnessed a crime or violence.
  • Responsible for following the National Child Advocacy Center’s (NCAC) protocol for interviewing children who are suspected victims of child abuse (sexual or physical) and witnesses of abuse or violence.
  • Testify in civil and criminal court proceedings as required.
  • Function as an effective member and facilitator of a multi-disciplinary team including law enforcement personnel, case workers, prosecutors, medical and mental health personnel.
  • Facilitate monthly case review meetings with members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Participate in Local, State and National Peer Review meetings on a bi-annual basis to give and receive feedback about Forensic Interviews.
  • Participate in National Journal Club phone call to discuss the most up to date research within the field of Forensic Interviewing and Child Advocacy Center’s.
  • Conduct professional outreach, including trainings about mandated reporting, child abuse, and Mission Kids CAC.
  • Provide orientation to new multidisciplinary team members on the team approach to investigating or intervening in child abuse;
  • Responsible for ensuring the multidisciplinary team members understand the importance and role of all multidisciplinary team members, including mental health and medical professionals.
  • Additional responsibilities include supporting the general day-to-day activities of the Children’s Advocacy Center, promoting and advocating for the programs offered through Missions Kids
  • Program writing support.
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • PC literacy including basic knowledge of Word for Windows and Excel, PowerPoint and data base functions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; presentation experience helpful.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred training in nationally approved child sexual abuse interview model.
  • Preferred experience testifying in court.
  • Bi-lingual preferred
  • Able to travel over night to conference and training requirements.
  • Must have valid driver’s license or ability to get to programs at various locations.
  • Successful completion of background checks which include child abuse history, criminal history and FBI clearances, with no criminal history.

 

Knowledge, Education, and Training Requirements:

  • Knowledge of child abuse and family violence;
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years’ experience in a field that would prepare the candidate for interviewing suspected victims of child physical or sexual abuse. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience working with victims of child sexual abuse, physical abuse and family violence.
  • Good organizational and writing skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others as part of a team.
  • Capability to participate in community presentations and outreach programs.
  • Ability to travel to attend and complete mandatory training and professional meetings.

Mission Kids, in partnership with Creative Health Services, is seeking a Mental Health Trauma Therapist to join our collaborative team of professionals to provide support to child victims of crime and their non-offending family members.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts initial assessments, including diagnosis according to standards published in the current edition of the DSM, of new and existing consumers.
  • Develops a plan of treatment that is recovery-oriented and tailored to the specific needs of the consumer for whom it is written.
  • Conducts individual, family, and/or group psychotherapy using generally accepted techniques employed in a manner consistent with ethical standards of practice.
  • If licensed, maintains license as current at at all times. Maintenance of a current license shall qualify as having met minimum annual training requirements.
  • If not licensed or license-eligible, attends regular clinical supervision with a licensed practitioner and attends at least 20 hours of continuing education/relevant training per year.
  • Attends clinical supervision and/or team meetings as applicable and required.
  • Participates in the agency and program-specific quality assurance and improvement plans.
  • Cooperates and collaborates with other members of the team in a manner which promotes the growth and healthy development of consumers served and the agency as a whole.
  • Maintains 60% productivity rate via an combination of individual, group, family/couples therapy and/or assessments.
  • Maintains clinical records according to agency standards and systems requirements for each consumer assigned.
  • Supervises and/or orients other professional staff as assigned.
  • Participates in assignment team meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Appropriately plans for and coordinates continuity of care of consumers.
  • Reports all unusual incidents, accidents, conflicts of interest, or other issues potentially problematic to the agency, staff, or consumer(s) promptly to the Outpatient Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • License Preferred
  • Child Therapists Specializing in Trauma
  • Prior Experience is Trauma required
  • Tf-CBT Certified and/or the ability to complete certification

Fall 2021 Internship Opportunity: Public Policy & Administration

Mission Kids is seeking an intern for the Fall 2021 Semester to work with our External Affairs Team.

Emerging student leaders will apply their knowledge and skills in a professional, non-profit environment. Mission Kids’ interns are highly motivated students looking to make a difference and expand their understanding of the issues surrounding child abuse, commercial sexual exploitation, and sex trafficking. This *REMOTE* internship will provide the student a greater understanding of how research, policy, and practice interact to positively impact our community. In addition, the student will develop an enhanced awareness of the structure and function of the state government, the federal government, NGOs, and academic institutions.

Young Friends of Mission Kids:

Mission Kids is looking for Young Professionals, ages 21-40, to get involved with our organization’s ‘Young Friends of Mission Kids’ Committee. Ideal candidates should be committed to supporting the Child Advocacy Center’s mission through volunteerism, fundraising and community awareness.

Our Work: Mission Kids provides a direct service program that helps achieve healing
and justice for victims of child abuse and their families in Montgomery County, as well
as child abuse prevention education and community outreach programs.
Our Impact: The work of Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center expands every year.
Mission Kids serves nearly 600 children and teens annually, and that number continues
to rise. Since Mission Kids opened its doors in 2009, the organization has served over
5,000 children and their families. With each new client comes greater need for
extended resources and funds.
Our Friends: The ‘Young Friends of Mission Kids’ Committee was established to reach
new generations and audiences who are connected to our mission and to find new ways
to meet the ever-growing needs of our Child Advocacy Center. This group of Young
Professionals, ages 21-40 years old, is committed to supporting the Child Advocacy
Center’s mission through volunteerism, fundraising and community awareness.
